Journeys is the quarterly periodical of the VOEA. It publishes feature articles, promotes professional development programs and provides information about matters of concern to outdoor educators.

Journeys exists as a way to share information with other Outdoor Educators. We rely on contributors’ stories and articles to do this. Readers can submit articles about matters of interest to outdoor educators. We are most interested in articles that describe your program, articles that are informative, opinionative or passionate about the practice of outdoor education.
Submissions should be emailed to education@voea.vic.edu.au in Microsoft word format. We prefer photos to be emailed as jpeg files. Please include contact details and a brief personal bio with all submissions.
Submissions are accepted on the understanding that they have not been submitted for publication elsewhere, and may be edited. Submissions may also be published on the VOEA web site.
Journeys reaches all of the key stakeholder and Outdoor Education practitioners in Victoria. It is also distributed to Outdoor Educators in other Australian states and territories as well as some overseas practitioners.
Advertisers in Journeys help us to support professionals and promote the profession of Outdoor Education. Advertising in Journeys off-sets the costs of printing and distribution. It frees membership revenue also help us to support professionals and promote the profession of Outdoor Education. Previous advertisers include clothing and equipment retailers, campsite operators and adventure providers.
Distribution: February, May, July, October
Format: A4. Outer shell (front and back pages) is colour, inside pages are black and white.
Readership
Between 300 and 400 VOEA members receive Journeys each quarter.
Advertising or sponsorship of Journeys will provide you with the opportunity to reach:
• teachers of outdoor education;
• the major commercial providers of outdoor education programs in Victoria ;
• Australia 's leaders in outdoor education research; and,
• policy makers in the field of education and land management.
• Journeys is seen by top opinion leaders in outdoor education throughout Victoria, Australia and overseas.
Our membership is roughly made up of:
- 30% Organisation members
These are mostly schools. School members are generally secondary schools or schools that teach both primary and secondary students.
- 50% Individual members:
These are largely Outdoor Education teachers or employees of Outdoor Education providers. Most work at a school or university. Around a third of individual members work with an outdoor education provider such as the Outdoor Education Group, Scouts or as consultants.
- 15% Concession holders:
Include freelance outdoor educators and university students
- 5% Complimentary Members:
This mostly consists of other Outdoor Education and/or Recreation Associations. Also includes government departments and Professional Teaching Associations.

Free classifieds for members
Brief personal classified advertisements of goods or services with an outdoor connection (e.g. 2nd hand mountain bike or holiday house for rent at remote location) will be placed free of charge for current members.
Advertising can also be taken out in the Australian Journal of Outdoor Education, the biennial journal of the Outdoor Council of Australia. This national journal has an Australia-wide distribution of almost one thousand.
You may also wish to consider sponsorship of conferences and professional development programs that attract specific users of outdoor products.
